Music & Choir

Adult Choir

Here at GUUF we are committed to making the musical experience one that everyone can participate in and enjoy. No special skill or experience is required. Anyone who loves music and likes to sing is welcome to join us.

We are lucky that our members have a wide range of experience and musical interests which allows us to stretch ourselves musically and try new things. The choir meets for practice every Sunday morning before the service. We sing in services once a month, but we often jump in and do more!

Special musical programming happens throughout the year as well as on holidays and special occasions. This past year saw the first GUUF Christmas Revels celebration and service, complete with period costuming and music.

Members of the congregation are always welcome to share their talents. Our accompanists are volunteers from the congregation and we often have congregational instrumentalists add to the order of service.

Children's Choir

We have children's music during the service for 3K through 5th graders one Sunday a month. It is a wonderful community-building time for the children. They are able to play instruments, to get to know each other through games and activities, to learn songs related to values in the UU tradition.

Children learn to work in partnerships, to respect each person's voice, to take care of the instruments, to sing together, to move together, and interact cooperatively with younger and older children. As they feel comfortable, they are able to perform in services a couple of times during the year.
